Kim Stiens

Part of the founding team at Employ America, Kim’s primary role as Director of Operations is to facilitate and resource the work of our extraordinary economists and policy analysts. This includes managing finances and accounting, ensuring ongoing compliance with all relevant laws and standards, and building an organizational culture that makes our team feel proud and excited to work at Employ America.

Kim holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from Albertson College (Now College of Idaho). Before Employ America, she worked in a variety of operations-adjacent roles at Vox Media, The Management Center, and Marijuana Policy Project, as well as at Namati, a legal empowerment nonprofit she still works with today. Kim is active in the nonprofit operations professional scene, and produced a free, comprehensive Nonprofit Ops 101 training video.

Originally from Idaho, Kim is now based in Washington DC, where she paints, plays video games, watches too much YouTube and writes fantasy novels. She also serves on the Board of Directors of TIMBER, a public interest group in Troy, NY.
